🗞️ Arena Update: Big Wins & New Coastline

It’s been a big few weeks for Arena…

🏆 We won the Sports Business Leaders x Founders Live pitch competition!Parul pitched Arena’s vision to a room full of operators, investors, and founders - and the audience vote brought home the win. We’re having early convos with angel investors excited by the future of work, AI, and community in sports, media & entertainment. If that’s you (or someone we should know), hit reply or reach out.

✈️ We’re officially bi-coastal!After years of building our network and careers in NYC, we’re expanding our roots on the West Coast. With regular trips planned to LA/SF, Sacramento is now Adriene’s home base and we’re looking to connect with leaders, collaborators, and creatives across the region. 🌟 Why Mentors Change Everything (and How to Find Yours)

Think about the last time you were stuck - unsure how to make your next move, second-guessing your instincts, or wondering if you were even headed in the right direction.

Now imagine having someone in your corner who’s already been there. Who sees your potential. Who can spot the opportunity you missed, offer the feedback no one else will, and remind you what you’re capable of when things get tough.

That’s what a mentor does. And the data backs it up:

  • 📈 Better outcomes: 71% of people with mentors report strong advancement, and 91% say they’re satisfied in their roles.

  • 🔄 Higher retention: Mentored employees stick around longer (72% vs. 49%) - and companies with mentorship programs see a 70% productivity jump.

  • 🌱 Legacy effect: 74% of adults say mentors played a major role in their success - and 89% go on to mentor others.

So how do you actually find one?

You don’t need a formal program to find a mentor. Here’s where to look:

  • 🤝 Start with who you know: Past managers, teammates, professors, or anyone you respect professionally.

  • 🗓️ Go where the energy is: Attend events, panels, and meetups where people are already gathered around shared interests.

  • Just ask (with respect): A short, thoughtful message can go a long way. Most people want to help - they just need to be asked.

🧠 Tips for Building a Great Mentorship Relationship

Once someone says yes, treat it with care:

  • 🎯 Be clear on what you’re looking for

  • ⏱️ Respect their time and energy

  • 🤝 Show gratitude often

  • 💡 Stay open to feedback (especially the tough kind)

  • 🔁 And when it’s your turn, pay it forward

Mentorship is one of the most reliable ways to grow faster, feel more confident, and stay motivated through the ups and downs - especially in such a rapid changing industry like sports, media & entertainment.

You don’t have to go it alone. Chances are, the guidance you need is one message away.

That’s it for this week in sports, media & entertainment!

Let’s look ahead,
