We often think that growing our careers means landing a big opportunity, having a bold idea, or taking a huge leap.
But sometimes… it starts with a tiny gesture that takes less than 5 minutes and helps someone else win aka “5-minute favors.”
What could this look like in action?
Think small, thoughtful actions you take that benefits someone else professionally without expecting anything in return like:
✨ Making an intro to someone in your network
📚 Sharing a helpful resource (article, podcast, tool)
📣 Giving a public shoutout or LinkedIn comment that hypes someone’s work
📝 Endorsing someone’s skills or leaving recommendations on LinkedIn
🎉 Congratulating someone on a win or career move
Why it works:
✅ It builds trust and visibility. People remember who helped them especially when you didn’t have to.
✅ It creates momentum. That favor might lead to a job lead, a speaking gig, or a new connection, for you or them.

How to start this week:
💡 Think of 3 people you haven’t talked to in a while.
Could you:
Share an article they’d find helpful?
Introduce them to someone they should meet?
Publicly celebrate their recent achievement?
⏰ Set a 15-minute calendar block each week called “Career Karma” and knock out 1-2 favors.
Remember: You don’t need a big title or a huge platform to have influence, you just need to show up with intention. The favor you give today opens a door for someone else and builds a bridge for your future, too.
