🍸 Creatives in Sports, Media & Entertainment Happy Hour
Thank you to everyone who made it to our first-ever networking Happy Hour for Arena in NYC 🎉
We loved connecting with so many creatives in sports, media & entertainment from rising stars to senior-level execs at companies including Disney, NBC Universal, Boardroom, MLB and beyond.
Here's what a few attendees had to say:
"I met some amazing folks within the sports and entertainment industry from all different backgrounds who really know their s***t (stuff)."
"By the end of the event, I felt very encouraged by the meaningful connections I made, as it truly seemed like they could help me advance in my career."
"I met some very impressive individuals at the event which was very energizing! It was also nice to hear about what companies were doing in the field."
👀We're looking into hosting another event in March for professionals across all of sports, media & entertainment! If you're interested in attending future events, subscribe here to get notified about future events we host.
💡 Overcoming Career FOMO
It’s easy to feel like you’re falling behind in sports, media & entertainment.
You know the feeling - scrolling through LinkedIn or Instagram, seeing another connection land their 'dream role’ and posing for pics at award shows or on the sidelines, and the constant question of "am I doing enough?"
We get it, because we've been there too.
But, here’s something most people don’t talk about: careers aren’t linear, and success isn’t a race. Unlike healthcare, tech, or finance, there really isn’t a cookie-cutter path to career growth in sports, media & entertainment.
So, why do we still feel stuck?
A common culprit is because we’re too busy looking sideways instead of forward.
Time for some honest career coaching because we don’t want you to get stuck in a loop here…
Instead of comparing your chapter 1 to someone else's chapter 20, ask yourself:
“Am I building a career that truly aligns with my values and long-term goals?”
If you find yourself often feeling like you’re not doing “enough,” it might be time to reassess your definition of success.
Because what works for someone else might not work for you, and that’s 100% okay.
Common traps holding you back:
❌ The social media illusion: Remember, LinkedIn posts only show the wins—not the struggles or sacrifices behind them.
❌ Title chase: Chasing fancy job titles often distracts from what truly brings satisfaction in your work/life.
❌ Achievement amnesia: When was the last time you took time to celebrate your own accomplishments? (Even we need this reminder!)
Your path forward to take control of your career journey:
✅ Personal success metrics: Define what fulfillment means for YOU, not what others expect
✅ Strategic planning: Use the SMART framework (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound).. We highly recommend checking out The 12 Week Year to get a detailed step-by-step process to achieving your goals.
✅ Track industry trends: Stay informed about resources and opportunities in sports, media & entertainment. Our Resource Hub offers a curated collection of industry newsletters, podcasts, books, and more for Arena Pro✨ members.
✅ Progress portfolio: Start a “career wins” journal or private Slack channel for work to keep track of all the amazing things you do (bonus: perfect for performance reviews!)
Remember: You're not behind. You're exactly where you need to be on your unique journey.
